“The River” is a freehold condominium project consisting of two towers linked by a common podium located directly opposite the Shangri La Hotel on the Chao Phraya River, Bangkok, The taller of the two towers, 74 and 45 storeys when completed will be Thailand’s second tallest building (258 m). This landmark development has extensive recreational facilities that will take full advantage of its premier location on the banks of the Chao Phraya River.

Meinhardt’s commission includes the Civil and Structural design and construction site supervision for the two towers, podium and magnificent sales office – that features an 8.2 m cantilever structure constructed from steel overlooking The River.

In the structural design of the two towers, Meinhardt has had to make extensive use of wind tunnel tests and dynamic analysis. The foundation design was especially challenging for the tall tower. The final solution employs a thick mat foundation that is supported by a combination of bored and barrette piles up to 70 m. long.
